While inside, she's told her companies were taken over by Ron, she's bankrupt and even Claire is working in a new company. When released, Michelle goes home to discover it foreclosed, so she goes to Claire'south, merely her young girl won't let her up.

Claire is at her cubicle at her new job. Clearly miserable, her coworker, Mike, defends her against their dominate then asks her out, but she politely refuses.

Arriving home, Claire finds Michelle on her front end stride. She lets her in to requite her the one box of items not seized. Expecting Claire to nonetheless be her assistant she explains she can't. Realizing Michelle doesn't accept any friends, her girl Rachel convinces her mom to allow her stay with them. Regretful, she sneaks into their home apologizing, and offering to break into Ron's office to steal the contract before information technology's official. Claire and Mike insist on helping.

Mike distracts the doorman dressed as a phoenix, while the women sneak into the office. They find it, just as Ron catches them. He wields a sword, but is ultimately defeated and he and Michelle make peace.

Initially announced as Michelle Darnell,[4] the film is based on a character McCarthy created for the comedy troupe Groundlings.[5] Universal was at first unable to decide on the gender of the motion-picture show's antagonist. Before Peter Dinklage was finally cast, the studio too considered Oprah Winfrey, Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock every bit possibilities.[six] Kathy Bates plays Ida Marquette, Darnell'due south mentor,[7] and Kristen Bong plays Claire, Darnell's sometime personal assistant.[viii]

The Boss received generally negative reviews from critics.
